#MadeByGoogle: Google’s reply to Apple and Amazon

After Apple (AAPL) and Amazon (AMZN), it’s the showtime for Google (GOOGL). Even though marred by recurrent leaks, the #MadeByGoogle event, which will kickstart at 11AM ET in New York, is generating a lot of interest. The event is seen as Google’s response to the latest set of launches by its rivals.

You can catch the live blog as well as the live stream of the event here.

Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL

The third generation of Pixel smartphones is undoubtedly the highlight of the hardware event. Strikingly, albeit all the criticism surrounding the screen notch first introduced by iPhone X, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will copy the feature, according to leaks.

The Pixel 3 XL would come with a big 6.7 inch screen, larger than the iPhone Xs Max, which features a 6.5-inch Super Retina OLED display. The Pixel 3, meanwhile, will have a screen that is 0.5 inches smaller iPhone Xs’ 5.8 inch Liquid Retina HD display.

Both phones are rumored to have wireless charging and dual front-facing cameras. If leaked reports are to be believed, the Pixel 3 XL would have “Super Selfie” front camera with a wide-angle sensor to blur the backgrounds.

Chromebook Tablet

Taking on yet another Apple product, Google is speculated to bring out a Chromebook tablet, with an attachable keyboard. Notably, the tablet would come with a built-in fingerprint sensor.

Google Home Hub

A few weeks back, Amazon had organized an event, where a slew of smart home products based on Alexa was launched. Today’s event will see Google waging an open war with Amazon in the smart home segment with the launch of Google Home Hub, a voice-activated device connected to Google Assistant.

In a game-changing move, the Google Home Hub is likely to feature a 7-inch display, which would sit on top of smart speaker, and would display calendar events, weather conditions as well as any other important information.

Other products

Google is rumored to launch the next generation of Pixel Buds during today’s event, though not many details have been revealed so far. A revamped Chromecast device is also in the lineup of the speculated products. The latest version of Chromecast, which is used to stream content on television, is likely to come with connectivity options with a controller or a headphone.
