After battling the likes of Apple Watch and Fitbit wearables, Garmin is back with what it excels in. Niche electronics. And this time, it is something fishy.
Garmin International, a unit of smart wearables maker Garmin Ltd (GRMN), today launched Panoptix LiveScope – a live scanning sonar. This device gives anglers higher resolution and easier-to-interpret images of structure, bait and fish swimming below and around the boat.
According to the company, this sonar technology is the first to deliver real-time sonar images to the front, back, sides, and below the boat – even when it is stationary.
The company also claims that it is possible to even distinguish between species of fish using the device.
